Over time, many women have tried to find words to express the mystical experience of God. Mary Malone, through her prayer poems, uses modern language to interpret for us the mystical prayer of several mystics, including Julian of Norwich, Mechtild of Magdeberg and Hildegard of Bingen.

Meditation is an esteemed practice in all religious traditions, including Christianity. Many Christians are unaware of the place of meditation within the tradition and of the various ways to practice this powerful type of prayer. During this day we will review the place of meditation within Christian spirituality and deepen our understanding of the purpose and types of meditation. The day will include several periods of meditative prayer accompanied by the sister practices of sacred chant and lectio divina (sacred reading).

As we draw on all the wisdom life has given us through these times in our past, we’ll hope to uncover the “something new” that beckons us forward in the midst of the change life is offering us now.
