Seton Spirituality Centre is named after a remarkable woman, Elizabeth Seton, founder of the Sisters of Charity in North America in 1809. She was a wife and widow, mother of five children, founder of a new community of religious women, and a teacher and administrator.

Meditation is an esteemed practice in all religious traditions, including Christianity. Many Christians are unaware of the place of meditation within the tradition and of the various ways to practice this powerful type of prayer. During this day we will review the place of meditation within Christian spirituality and deepen our understanding of the purpose and types of meditation. The day will include several periods of meditative prayer accompanied by the sister practices of sacred chant and lectio divina (sacred reading).

What is it about changes? We’ve lived them before; we’ve survived and even thrived! And still they challenge us (scare us, even?) each time they pop up. Today we’ll explore this phenomenon of change and our reaction to it, with a special look at a particular time of change, a time of transition. As we draw on all the wisdom life has given us through these times in our past, we’ll hope to uncover the “something new” that beckons us forward in the midst of the change life is offering us now.
